My name is Kevin, and I started InFin8 Rowing with the intention of building a community of rowers, and coaches, who subscribe to a similar philosophy and style of rowing. I hope to make this community an extension of the team of people that I still consult about my own rowing, and before I put any concept forward in my coaching. It has been through this collaborative approach that we have formed what we believe to be solid and demonstrable methodologies, and where I have found my own success in the sport as an athlete as well as a coach. Some of our concepts may be considered unconventional in certain circles, but we have sound reasoning for why we believe in them, and we delivery our message in a way we believe is intrinsic to any athletes natural attributes and limitations. We are not all “model rowers” so any coaching that takes a prescriptive approach will not work. If we share what we have found to be best practices, and work together, we can all become faster, more efficient, healthier, and happier rowers.
We would love to have you as part of the tribe.
I am a UK based, actively competitive masters rower, with successes nationally in South Africa, as well as internationally at World Masters. I only returned to the sport in 2012, some 25 years after leaving high school rowing. I am also a FISA level 2 certified coach, with over 5 years experience.

It not only “checks the boat” and reduces the effective length of your drive, but it can also causes blades to submerge too deeply, causing you to have Rainbow hands, as well as increases the risk of injury. Jazz hands may feel intuitive but is a result of a flawed understanding of the mechanics that go into a good rowing stroke.
So, why do jazz hands happen, and more importantly, how can you fix them? Let’s break it down step by step.
The Reach is the end of the recovery
